PDSA is a unique organisation providing expert veterinary care to people across the UK who would otherwise be unable to afford treatment for their pets. The work carried out at PDSA has a meaningful impact on both pets and their owners.

The organisation’s approach blends pragmatism with a strong focus on client care, aiming to deliver effective clinical outcomes without being driven by targets. PDSA measures its success through impact, not numbers.

PDSA is currently seeking a passionate Veterinary Surgeon who values flexibility and purpose-driven work to join its team.

    Weekend Cover
The successful candidate will join the emergency clinic team for daytime weekend shifts. This position is well-suited to a vet who thrives in a fast-paced, well-supported environment, delivering essential and urgent care.

At this hospital, you will collaborate with another experienced vet to provide excellent clinical care in an emergency-only setting. The team includes skilled veterinary nurses, receptionists, and management staff, all committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

    Shift Structure:
    • One vet: 9:00am – 6:00pm
    • Second vet: 10:30am – 6:00pm

This dual-coverage model ensures shared caseloads and robust clinical collaboration. The role offers opportunities for professional development in emergency medicine and welcomes discussions about flexibility, including the number of weekends worked per month and whether the candidate prefers Saturdays, Sundays, or both.

    Weekday Cover
During the week, you will work a healthy work-life balance while still practicing high-quality veterinary medicine.

Typical weekday hours are from 8:30am to 5:00pm, but PDSA is open to discussions around working days and hours to accommodate individual preferences.

PDSA’s veterinary teams possess a wide range of clinical interests, creating a rich pool of knowledge and experience for collaborative case discussion and treatment planning.

    • Separate dog and cat kennelling facilities
    • In-house radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy
    • Piped gases
    • Extensive orthopaedic equipment

The hospital teams are large enough to support flexible rotas and provide enhanced pay and compensatory time off when weekend shifts are worked.

    • Full payment of RCVS fees
    • Access to internal CPD programmes, with discounts for BSAVA Congress and London Vet Show
